Heather is a dedicated counseling intern currently completing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). With an existing Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology, she possesses a nuanced understanding of the complex intersections between mental health, trauma, and the legal system.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Heather serves full-time as a victim's witness advocate, guiding crime victims through the legal process and connecting them with vital resources. She is also an experienced case manager and group facilitator who relies heavily on trauma-informed practices.

Areas of Focus

Heather supports adolescents and adults navigating:

  • Trauma & Interpersonal Violence: Specialized support for survivors of domestic abuse and crime.
  • Anxiety & Stress: Managing overwhelming emotions and daily stressors.
  • Relationship & Life Transitions: Navigating shifts in personal dynamics or life stages.
  • Criminal Justice Impact: Unique support for those affected by victimization and the legal system.
  • Self-Esteem: Building confidence and a sense of personal agency.

Counseling Approach

Heather’s counseling style is collaborative, supportive, and strengths-based. She aims to create a space where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, emotions, and experiences while developing practical tools to navigate challenges.
Her approach incorporates:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Adlerian-informed counseling
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Psychoeducation and coping skill development
  • Strength-based techniques

Heather recognizes that beginning therapy is an important step and is committed to creating a supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered as they work toward healing and personal growth.
